- Stop signs are manufactured with rust free aluminum overlaminated with Reflective Sheeting:
1. Engineering Grade Reflective Sheeting (Type I).
2. High Intensity Prismatic Reflective (Type III HIP).
3. Diamond Grade Reflective Sheeting (Type IX). - Graphics are printed with translucent inks or applied vinyl graphics, opaque and translucent film. (Translucent ink or film is not applicable to the color black)
- Aluminum will not chip, crack or rust. Aluminum signs will last longer that plastic or steel signs.
- Hole configuration on STOP signs is illustrated below. All signs are supplied with 2 holes at 3/8” dia. (top & bottom).
- These signs have been designed for the following applications: post, fence or wall mounting.
- These signs do not have any overlamination.
- Image / Text on signs is printed directly onto the reflective sheeting.
- Printed image will resist fading and mild chemicals.
- Stop signs are manufactured with rust free aluminum overlaminated with Reflective Sheeting:

- Minimum size STOP signs may be used on low-speed roadways where the reduced legend size would be adequate for the regulation or where physical conditions preclude the use of the other sizes.
- The Freeway and Expressway sizes should be used for higher-speed applications to provide larger signs for increased visibility and recognition.
- The Oversized size may be used for those special applications where speed, volume, or other factors result in conditions where increased emphasis, improved recognition, or increased legibility would be desirable.
Size and Use of MUTCD R1-1 Stop Sign
- What do you need when mounting signs?
If you are mounting signs to a U-Channel Post, the following
hardware accessories are required. -
- 1 U-channel post, sizes range from 4ft to 12ft,
either Green or Galvanized finishes. - 1 Bolting Set (Part# Y3465 or Y4899)
Set includes washers and bolts, or - 1 Tamperproof Set (Part# Y4900 or Y4901)
Set includes washers, one way bolts and break away nuts. - 1 Pair of Ribbed Plates (optional) Part# Y4915
- Please follow the installation steps shown on the illustration.

Stop Sign Mounting on U-Channel Post
- What do you need when mounting signs?
If you are mounting signs to a 2-3/8” Round Post, the
following hardware accessories are required. -
- 1 Round Post (2-3/8” dia.) sizes range from 8ft to 12ft.
- 1 Sign Aluminum Interlocking Bracket
(Part# Y3457).
Set includes 2 brackets, bolt and nuts, or - 2 sign Aluminum Bracket Set (Part# Y3458).
Set includes 2 brackets with bolting set to mount 2 signs, one on each side of post. - Please follow the installation steps shown on the illustration.

Rigid Material: Engineering Grade (Type I) Reflective Aluminum (.063", .080"):
- Description & Attributes
- Engineering Grade (EG) retro-reflective sheeting is a beaded plastic material that renders high retro-reflectivity at night. It is designed for use mainly on traffic signs and is highly resistant against the extremes of hot, cold, dry, and humid weathering conditions. Engineering Grade (EG) Reflective Sheeting meets ASTM D4956 Type I retro-reflective sheeting standards.

- 3M™ Diamond Grade™ Reflective Sheeting is a super-high efficiency, full cube retroreflective sheeting designed for signs that need to be highly visible in all light and weather conditions. It offers a clear, continous visiblity from all angles. This sheeting is designed to have the highest retroreflective characteristics at medium and short road distance. Diamond Grade reflective sheeting provides higher visibility than any other grade of reflective sheeting. It also meets specification ASTM D 4956-04, Type IX.
