How do I mount my street name sign?

Street name signs differ in many ways from most traffic signs. One of the most important differences is that these signs are double-sided. This is very important when considering the installation of your signs. Stop signs and other regulatory traffic signs are single-sided, and can be installed to the face of a post or pole.

Since street name signs need to be seen from both sides, they are typically installed on top of a post or pole. Because of the unique way these signs are displayed, SafetySign.com does not sell official street name signs with holes. If mounting holes are necessary, they can be added, but only to flat blade signs and not those of extruded construction.

Extruded blade street signs have thicker top and bottom edges that increase the strength of the sign, and should not be drilled through for mounting.

Although the construction of flat blade signs and extruded signs is different, they are still installed in the same ways. Below are the options we offer to mount your street name signs

2-3/8'' Round Post Street Name Sign Bracket

2-3/8" Round Post Street Name Sign Brackets are designed to be mounted to 2-3/8" round sign posts and the bracket can be turned to face any direction before being tightened down.

The opening on the extruded blade bracket is 5/16" wide to accommodate the 1/4" thick extrusion of the extruded blade sign, and 3/16" wide on the flat blade bracket to accommodate .080" thick flat blade signs. Both openings are 7/8" deep. 5-1/2" and 12" wide brackets are available for purchase.


Square Post Street Name Sign Bracket

Square Post Street Name Sign Brackets are the bracket of choice for mounting a street name sign to galvanized square posts. This bracket is available for both 1-3/4" and 2" square posts, and in flat blade and extruded blade configurations.

The opening on the extruded blade bracket is 5/16" wide to accommodate the 1/4" thick extrusion of the extruded blade sign, and 3/16" wide on the flat blade bracket to accommodate .080" thick flat blade signs. Both openings are 7/8" deep. 5-1/2" and 12" wide brackets are available for purchase.


180 Degree U-Channel Post Street Name Sign Bracket

180 Degree U-Channel Post Street Name Sign Brackets are designed to be used with 2 lbs./ft., 3 lbs./ft., and 4 lbs./ft. U-channel posts. The 180 degree name refers to the way in which the sign mounting part of the bracket sits parallel with the flange of the U-channel post.

The opening on the extruded blade bracket is 5/16" wide to accommodate the 1/4" thick extrusion of the extruded blade sign, and 3/16" wide on the flat blade bracket to accommodate .080" thick flat blade signs. Both openings are 7/8" deep.


90 Degree U-Channel Post Street Name Sign Bracket

90 Degree U-Channel Post Street Name Sign Brackets are designed to be used with 2 lbs./ft., 3 lbs./ft., and 4 lbs./ft. U-channel posts. The 90 degree name refers to the way in which the sign mounting part of the bracket sits at a 90 degree angle with the flange of the U-channel post.

Street Name Sign Wing Brackets are the ideal solution for mounting street name signs as well as smaller parking or traffic signs on large round posts and poles. When used for its primary purpose of mounting street name signs, these can accommodate both flat blade and extruded blade type street signs.

The 16" wide bracket is best suited for street name signs up to 24" long, and the 24" wide bracket is best suited for 30" to 42" street name signs. These wing brackets also have three 3/8" mounting holes which allow them to be installed on wood posts, and three well-defined slots that fit up to 3/4" stainless steel strapping, helping to keep the bracket in place during the installation.
