Scaffold Tags FAQs
Are scaffold tags required by OSHA?
Yes. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451(f)(3) and 1926.454 require scaffolds to be inspected before each work shift and that defective scaffolding be tagged out of service. Scaffold tags communicate the results of that inspection to workers.
What do the colors on scaffold tags mean?
Green = Scaffold is safe for use as erected. Yellow = Scaffold may be used with specific restrictions (listed on the tag). Red = Scaffold is incomplete or unsafe-do not use.
Who is qualified to inspect a scaffold?
OSHA requires scaffold inspections to be performed by a 'competent person'-someone with the knowledge and authority to identify hazards and take corrective action.
Are scaffold tags weatherproof?
Yes. Our scaffold tags are made from durable, weather-resistant materials designed to remain legible through rain, UV exposure, and job site handling.
Can scaffold tags include custom fields?
Yes. We offer scaffold tags with write-on areas for inspection date, inspector name, weight capacity, and restrictions. Custom pre-printed tags are also available.
