How much does the 28" Slim Performance Cone weigh?
The 28" Slim Performance Cone weighs 10 lbs, with the weight concentrated in a molded black base. The 10 lb base is the better choice where wind, passing vehicles or heavy foot traffic would knock over a lighter cone.
What is the 28" Slim Performance Cone made of?
The cone body is PVC plastic and the base is recycled PVC and rubber. The materials are UV-stable and impact-resistant for extended outdoor use, and the cone is 100% recyclable at end of life. The base is molded directly to the body rather than attached, so the two will not separate.
Does the 28" Slim Performance Cone have reflective bands?
Yes. The cone carries two High Intensity Prismatic reflective bands, one 6" and one 4". The collar area is recessed so the bands sit below the surface of the cone body, which protects the sheeting from abrasion when cones are stacked, dragged or loaded.
Can these cones be stacked?
Yes. The slim profile is designed to nest, and the recessed collar area keeps stacked cones from sticking together, so a stack separates cleanly during setup. The same recess protects the reflective bands from wear, which is the usual failure point on stacked cones.
What is the difference between Performance and Premium traffic cones?
Performance cones use High Intensity reflective sheeting and an integrated hand grip, and are built for reliable use in hot and cold conditions. Premium cones step up to 3M reflective sheeting, are formulated for extreme temperature swings, and are listed on most state QPL and APL lists.
Where are 28" cones typically used in a facility?
28" cones are commonly used indoors and outdoors at facilities to mark wet floors, spills, equipment in service, loading dock hazards and temporary walkway closures. The 28" height is tall enough to be seen across an open floor while still stacking into a storage closet or utility room.
How many cones do I need to close off an area?
Spacing depends on the hazard and site conditions, so check your own site's safety plan. As a general practice, cones are set close enough that the line reads as continuous from an approaching person's viewpoint. For longer runs, cone bars or retractable belt barriers between cones make the boundary unambiguous.
