Details

A rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) is a pedestrian-activated, high-intensity LED warning light used to supplement signs at uncontrolled crosswalks. This single-sided solar kit ships preconfigured with two beacons, an integrated 30W solar panel and battery, a 30" diamond grade diamond bicycle and pedestrian crossing sign (W11-15), and left and right diagonal arrow plaques. The beacons flash in the MUTCD wig-wag plus simultaneous (WW+S) pattern to alert drivers when a pedestrian is present. Solar powered, with no AC wiring or trenching required. Suitable for uncontrolled mid-block crosswalks, school zones, and trail crossings. Not intended for signalized or stop-controlled intersections.

The Single-Sided Solar RRFB Kit for Bicycle/Pedestrian Crossings is built for the shared-use environment — trail crossings, greenway intersections, and multimodal paths where cyclists and walkers meet roadway traffic. On activation, high-intensity LED beacons flash in the rapid wig-wag pattern that alerts drivers to a crossing in use, giving them earlier recognition and more time to slow for users who may be moving faster than a pedestrian on foot.

Power is fully solar. A 30-watt panel runs the beacons and activation electronics without trenching or a utility connection, so the kit installs on a single pole and goes live the same day — practical for trailheads and path crossings far from existing infrastructure. Sealed battery storage holds through overcast conditions, rated for up to 15 years of service-free operation.

Activation is battery-free. The piezoelectric button generates its own power on press, removing the dead-button maintenance that affects battery-dependent systems on remote path crossings. The assembly is rated for extreme climates from -40°C to +50°C.

This kit satisfies the MUTCD W11-15 flashing-beacon standard and ships complete: dual rectangular beacons, the combined bicycle/pedestrian crossing sign, an arrow plaque, the activation button, solar assembly, and mounting hardware. Reflective sheeting is available in multiple grades to match the agency or path-authority spec.

System Features

Aimed at municipalities, parks and recreation departments, transportation agencies, and trail contractors, the Single-Sided Bicycle/Pedestrian RRFB Kit pairs same-day solar installation with a recognized flash pattern that improves driver yielding at multimodal crossings. Free analytics and remote configuration software — no annual fee — let staff set up the system and capture crossing-activity data without a site visit.

Encrypted wireless keeps the beacon heads synchronized with no wire run between them, and the thin-profile housing keeps the unit clean against a trailside backdrop.

Features:
  • Pedestrian- and cyclist-activated rapid-flash beacons for shared-use crossings.
  • Battery-free piezoelectric activation button — ideal for remote path crossings.
  • Fully solar-powered (30W); single-pole install with no utility connection.
  • Meets the MUTCD W11-15 flashing-beacon standard.
