Details

A rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) is a pedestrian-activated, high-intensity LED warning light used to supplement signs at uncontrolled crosswalks. This single-sided solar kit ships preconfigured with two beacons, an integrated 30W solar panel and battery, a 30" diamond grade diamond pedestrian crossing sign (W11-2), and left and right diagonal arrow plaques. The beacons flash in the MUTCD wig-wag plus simultaneous (WW+S) pattern to alert drivers when a pedestrian is present. Solar powered, with no AC wiring or trenching required. Suitable for uncontrolled mid-block crosswalks, school zones, and trail crossings. Not intended for signalized or stop-controlled intersections.

The Single-Sided Solar RRFB Kit brings pedestrian-activated visibility to unsignalized crosswalks where drivers approach from one direction. When a pedestrian presses the activation button, high-intensity LED beacons fire in a rapid, irregular wig-wag pattern — the flash signature drivers instinctively recognize and respond to, pulling attention to the crossing at the moment it matters most.

The entire system runs on solar. A 30-watt panel keeps the beacons, sign lighting, and activation electronics powered without trenching, conduit, or a utility connection, which means the kit installs on a single pole and goes live the same day. Sealed battery storage holds a charge through overcast stretches and short winter days, with service-free operation rated for up to 15 years.

Activation is battery-free at the curb. The piezoelectric push button generates its own power from the press itself — no coin cells to replace, no dead buttons, no maintenance truck rolls. Both the beacon head and the button assembly are rated for extreme climates, performing from -40°C through +50°C, so the system holds up from northern winters to peak summer heat.

This kit satisfies the MUTCD W11-15 flashing-beacon standard and ships as a complete, ready-to-mount package: dual rectangular beacons, the pedestrian crossing sign, a downward-pointing arrow plaque, the activation button, the solar assembly, and mounting hardware. Reflective sign sheeting is available across multiple grades so you can match the agency spec for the location.

System Features

Built for municipalities, DOTs, school districts, and contractors installing at marked midblock and intersection crossings, the Single-Sided Solar RRFB Kit pairs same-day solar installation with a flash pattern proven to increase driver yielding. Onboard analytics and configuration software are included at no cost — no annual license, no per-seat fee — giving crews remote setup and crossing-activity data competitors typically charge several hundred dollars a year to access.

The encrypted wireless link keeps the beacon heads synchronized without hardwiring between them, and the thin-profile housing keeps wind load and visual clutter to a minimum. Everything is sourced as one kit, so there are no loose components to spec separately.

Features:
  • Pedestrian-activated rapid-flash LED beacons that pull driver attention to the crossing.
  • Battery-free piezoelectric push button — no coin cells, no replacement cycle.
  • Fully solar-powered by a 30W panel; no trenching, conduit, or utility connection required.
  • Meets the MUTCD W11-15 flashing-beacon standard for unsignalized crossings.
  • Sealed battery storage rated for up to 15 years of service-free operation.
  • Rated for extreme climates from -40°C to +50°C.
  • Encrypted wireless sync between beacon heads.
  • Free analytics and remote configuration software — no annual fee.
  • Ships as a complete kit: beacons, sign, arrow plaque, button, solar, and mounting hardware.
