ANSI Class 2 Vests
ANSI Class 2 Safety Vests are the most widely used high-visibility garments in the workplace, providing enhanced conspicuity for workers in environments with vehicle traffic speeds up to 50 mph and in complex backgrounds. These vests meet the ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 2 standard with a minimum of 775 square inches of background fluorescent material and 201 square inches of retroreflective tape.
Our Class 2 selection covers a full range of applications: mesh vests for hot climates, solid polyester for cooler conditions, and surveyor-style vests with multiple pockets for field workers. Available in fluorescent lime/yellow-green and orange — the two ANSI-approved background colors — with horizontal and vertical stripe configurations.
These vests are required PPE for parking lot attendants, surveyors, school crossing guards, delivery drivers, warehouse personnel, and construction workers not immediately adjacent to high-speed roadways. Shop individual units or order in bulk packs for crew outfitting at lower per-unit prices.
ANSI Class 2 Vests FAQs
When is a Class 2 vest required vs. Class 3?
Class 2 is typically required where work is performed near traffic moving up to 50 mph or in complex work environments. Class 3 is required at higher speeds or when workers need to be visible to equipment operators at greater distances.
What retroreflective tape configuration do Class 2 vests have?
Class 2 vests require at least 201 square inches of retroreflective tape, typically in horizontal bands around the torso and over the shoulders in an 'X' configuration on the back.
Are Class 2 vests acceptable for nighttime road work?
For workers near moving traffic at night, Class 3 is strongly recommended. Class 2 may be acceptable for workers farther from the roadway in well-lit areas, but check your site safety plan and local regulations.
Do Class 2 vests come in sizes for larger workers?
Yes. We carry Class 2 vests in sizes S through 5XL to ensure proper coverage and comfort for all body types.
Can Class 2 vests be used in rain or wet conditions?
Standard mesh or polyester vests will get wet. We carry weatherproof and water-resistant Class 2 options for wet environments. Check product listings for water-resistance ratings.
