New York ADA Parking Signs
On July 25, 2014, legislation was signed by Governor Cuomo amending the existing accessibility law of New York, requiring the removal of the word "handicapped" from new or replaced state signage, and updating the symbol of accessibility to portray a more active individual. The new law will go into effect 120 days after it was signed. The signage update will take place on a gradual basis, as worn out signs need replacing and new signs need to be installed.
