San Diego Honors Mark Hamill with His Own Street

How do you recognize someone who helped save the galaxy from not one, but two Death Stars? If you spent some time growing up in San Diego before moving to Tatooine, you do it with an honorary street sign.

That’s exactly what Clairemont did for Mark Hamill, the actor best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series, late last month. Castleton Drive, the street where Hamill lived for four years, was given the honorary name Mark Hamill Drive.

When the fabric covering the sign got stuck during the unveiling, Hamill and a San Diego police officer used a green lightsaber to remove it. In addition to the honorary street name, it was also declared Mark Hamill Day in San Diego.

As best we can tell, no mind tricks were involved in arranging the honors.
