Don’t Get Gronk’ed

For New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, it’s been rough going as of late. First, he was concussed against the Jaguars, then the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, and, finally, his home was robbed while he was in Minnesota. It’s safe to say that Gronk has seen better days.

The star tight end isn’t the first high profile athlete to be targeted by thieves and he likely won’t be the last either. In fact, alongside Tennis star Venus Williams, Laker’s shooting guard Nick Young, and Dodger’s right-fielder Yasiel Puig, Gronkowski is the fourth celebrity athlete to be victimized in the past couple of months. Puig’s home was broken into while he played Game 7 of the 2017 World Series and, believe it or not, it was the second time in the same year that his home was targeted.

What’s the one thing that both Gronkowski and Puig have in common? According to reports, they didn’t have security systems or property signs at the time of the break in. Thankfully, there are many measures you can take to ward off would-be criminals.

It’s always best to be proactive so that you don’t become a victim. Outside of purchasing a security and home monitoring system, many people elect to use property signs – such as No Trespassing, Protected by Video Surveillance, or Beware of Dog. Whether you’re supplementing your security system by adding a CCTV sign or warning unwelcome guests of your guard dog, you’re already one step ahead of two elite athletes.
