Swimming Safety Tips for Pools Areas

As summer is rapidly approaching and young children are eager for summer break, there are many dangers lurking to this much awaited season.  As a parent, it is your responsibility to ensure your child’s safety in swimming and pool areas.

If you have a pool, it is important to post swimming signs to regulate the rules to ensure a safe environment.  To prevent any swimming accidents it is critical to have parental supervision and a swimming buddy.

Another significant rule is to limit the use of pool floats and toys – There is a risk that the flotation device may carry your child out to deeper waters.  It is also important to post no diving signs in areas where it is hard to judge the depth of the water.

If you have a swimming pool it’s vital that you have a fence that is at least four feet high to prevent children from wandering into the pool area unsupervised.  It is also recommended that the parents avoid reading books, using cellphones, or an iPad so they can give their full and undivided attention.
