Snow Route Signs & Winter Signs on the Roads

Snow Route Signs Warn of Hazardous Conditions

In the past month, snow has made an early debut in many parts of the U.S., and as winter begins to settle in, more is sure to be expected. As the slick rain, sleet, and snow fall, the roads will become increasingly hazardous. Dangerous ice will form in unexpected spots of the road, leading to traffic accidents and slow-downs.

As the temperature drops, it is especially important for drivers to pay attention to winter related traffic signs, including snow route signs and road closed signs.

Towns post these winter traffic safety signs in areas that are prone to hazardous conditions. These areas include bridges that may freeze before the rest of the road, steep inclines where traction can be lost, and other areas where snow and ice make driving dangerous.

Cities also post emergency snow route signs and snow parking rules signs to help them keep roads clear for emergency response vehicles during a bad storm. These signs prohibit parking on certain streets where snow clean-up is especially important for traffic access. These snow route signs typically warn drivers that cars will be towed if parked there during a snow emergency.

Other winter caution signs include slippery when wet signs. These signs are available as official traffic signs for hazardous road conditions, and also signs for offices, warehouses, and other facilities. The wet floor signs are used in pedestrian areas, typically near entrances, where staff and visitors track in snow and ice from outside. Folding floor signs are also used after staff mops floors to alert others of unexpected wet floors.
