Compliance
2020 Fire Code of New York State — § 901.4.6.2 Marking on access doors
Access doors for automatic sprinkler system riser rooms and fire pump rooms shall be labeled with an approved sign. The lettering shall be in contrasting color to the background. Letters shall have a minimum height of 2 inches (51 mm) with a minimum stroke of 3/8 inch (10 mm).
NOTE: Size 7 x 5” is not compliant.
The sizes that meet the requirements specified above is 10 x 7” and 14 x 10”.
NY Gates Fire Protection System Signage — Fire Pump
For fire pump rooms, the sign shall read “FIRE PUMP”. The minimum size of the sign will be 7-inch high by 10-inch wide, WHITE letters with RED background, letters shall be 2 inches in height with ½-inch stroke width and be all capital letters. The sign will be permanently attached to the door leading to the fire pump room, with the center of the sign being a minimum of 48 inches to a maximum of 60 inches above finished floor. The sign will be either .040” Engineering Grade Reflective Aluminum for outdoor applications OR 6 Mil self-adhesive Engineering Grade Reflective Vinyl for indoor applications.
NOTE:
The sign that meets the requirements specified above is the 10 x 7” and 14 x 10” in .040” Engineering Grade Reflective Aluminum (25869-R1L, 25869-R1K).
