Battery Charging Prevent Explosions • Ensure That There Is A Good Circulation Of Air To Disperse Any Accumulation Of Gas Before Starting Work • Never Smoke Or Use Open Flames In The Battery Charging Area • Do Nothing That May Cause A Spark • Never Tighten Or Loosen Connections While Cells Are On Charge, Discharge Or Gassing. • Keep All Connections Tight By Using An Insulated Spanner • Keep Other Metal Objects Away From The Top Of Batteries Avoid Injury From Electrolyte • Wear Protective Clothing And Eye Protection • If Electrolyte Splashes: • In Eyes: Immediately Use Eye-Wash Bottle Or Wash Out Thoroughly With Water • On Skin: Rinse Liberally With Water • On Clothing: Immediately Remove Contaminated Clothing Do Not Spill Electrolyte • But If You Do So Accidently, Clean Up The Spill Immediately With Plenty Of Water - But Never Do This In The Vicinity Of High Tension Electrical Equipment - Report The Situation Immediately And Obtain Advice Or Assistance
