Use of 6" street sign vs 9" street sign?
The 6'' high signs are used on local roads with speed limits of 25 mph or less. The 9'' high are the standard size for ground-mounted street name signs with speed limits higher than 25 mph.

- Suffix & Prefix Size? On 6'' signs, small suffix/prefix will be 2'' high. While arrows are 2.5'' high On 9'' signs, small suffix/prefix will be 3'' high. While arrows are 4.5'' high
- Sign Construction: Signs are manufactured on .080 Aluminum laminated with either Engineering Grade (Type I) or High Intensity Prismatic (Type III) Grade Reflective sheeting.
- Are these signs double sided? Signs are provided with the same copy on both sides
- Street Name Text Size: 6” Signs: Text size is 4'' upper case and 2.5'' lower case 9” Signs: Text size is 6'' upper case and 4.5'' lower case, created using Highway fonts.
- Sign Mounting: Street name signs Are Not provided with holes, instead these signs have been designed to be mounted on posts by using the street name sign brackets available on this website.
Font Style Options

Safetysign.com will use the approved font below known as ClearviewHwy when producing your street name signs, this font offers several variations of character compression and character spacing, the correct version will be selected by us when producing your signs. The selection will be based on the length of the street name versus the length of the sign ordered. Due to the nature and size of street name signs, more often than not, the street name is compressed (from side to side) to fit the name area on the sign; that's the reason we have recommended characters, as soon as you go over the recommended number of characters the legibiliy of the sign decreases and the compression of the name increases.
Standard Sign Layouts
- The layouts below illustrate the different options we typically offer, we realize you may have a different layout in mind, if that's the case please let us know by specifying it in the Special instructions field above.

- Option 1: Sign with Small Prefix abbreviation and Small Suffix abbreviation centered vertically.
- Option 2: Sign with Small Prefix and Small Suffix abbreviation plus street number. (If the opposite is required, simple specify it in the Special Instructions field above)
- Option 3: Street Name, Prefix and Suffix all the same size, abbreviated.
- Option 4: Street name with small top corner Suffix abbreviation.
- Option 5: Street name with small Suffix abbreviation and street number.
(If the opposite is required, simple specify it in the Special Instructions field above) - Option 6: Street name with large suffix (spelled out)
- Option 7: Street name only.
Flat Blade Street Name Sign Brackets
Street name signs are sold without mounting holes, to mount street name signs, use any of the brackets shown on the illustration below. If holes are required, then call Brimar at 800-274-6271 to request it.
